Writing is a skill that not everyone possesses. A writer is that person who can dive inside something and try to reach the depth of that thing. He/She then start to write on whatever information they managed to collect from that thing or on that thing. It is a natural talent but it doesn’t mean that those who don’t possess this natural talent can’t be a writer. Everyone in the world can be a writer. I am writing this blog to help those people who want to be successful writers. So let’s get started..
1. Passion for Writing:-
Anyone who wants to become a writer should have passion for writing. He/She should be interested in writing. Remember writing is a skill which you can only generate if you have passion of it. Passion automatically generates new topics/ideas on which you want to write. So the key thing to become a successful writer is to have passion and keen interest of writing.
2. Thirst for knowledge:-
You cannot be a good writer if you don’t have thirst for gaining more and more knowledge. Whenever you will have a little chit chat with a writer you will be amazed on their extensive knowledge. They can explain almost everything in much better way. Why is this? Are they superhumans? Are they godly creatures? Certainly not, they are just normal human beings with thirst for gaining knowledge and by using that knowledge they can write on almost every topic given to them. So the second point is that you must have thirst for gaining knowledge. If you don’t have, then grow some.
3. Reading Habit:-
Reading is a very good habit. By reading different things like novels, articles, stories etc your mind fills up with new ideas. Writers know how to consume those ideas and how to implement them in proper words. To become a good writer you must have a good reading habit because every writer was once a reader. Every writer has to be a reader but every reader may or may not be a writer. So you have to possess reading habit in order to be a good writer.
4. Creative Mind:-
Every writer thinks differently than the rest of the world. They have thousands of different ideas on a single topic. This is the sign of having a creative mind. Writers know what to write and how write, what words to choose to write, what sequence should be used to write and all these possibilities are managed by a creative mind. Again it can be possessed by any individual. You just have to change your mind set and try to think differently on each and every thing. This task is somewhat difficult to do but with practice it can be done.
Hint: Try to observe things. Pick up an object and try to write on it. It’s benefits, its physical appearance, its color, its use etc. You might generate new ideas. If you fail try picking another object. I started like this and it helped me. If it helped me then I am sure it will help you.
5. Research on a Topic:-
Researching on a topic is one of the most important points when it comes to writing. Although this point also be skipped only if you have a good knowledge about the topic you are writing on. If not then obviously you have to research on that topic and then start to write. This thing is used mainly in professional writing. So if you want to become a professional writer and want to earn money through writing researching is necessary.
6. Brainstorming:-
Now let’s move to the writing part. Before writing on a topic you need to brain storm that topic. Brain storming means you need to come up with some points that you need to include in your writing. The most commonly used method of brain storming is to write the name of the topic in a bubble and other bubbles connect with that bubble, which include the points that you want to include in your writing. All the professional writers firstly brain storm on the topic and then start to write.
7. Drafting:-
Once you have gathered all the points and information that is necessary now is the time to start implementing them. Start to write on the topic and you will see that the brain storming that you have done before and the research that you have conducted will help you in writing more and more things about a topic.
8. Proof Reading / Revising:-
Once you finished writing it’s time to revise or proof read that draft. It is not necessary to proof read your own draft by your own. You can take help from your parents or friends or any expert and that is highly recommended as well to seek help from others. Make two or three copies of your draft and give them to your desired individuals for proof reading. They might point out your mistakes or they might come up with some more points that you can include in your draft. Proof reading is the most important point because after proof reading you can correct your mistakes that you have made while writing that draft.
9. Sequencing:-
Sequencing is a part of proof reading. While proof reading your draft you might see the wrong arrangements of some points and you might want to give them your desired sequence. This happens most of the time that you need to give sequence to your draft.
10. Publishing:-
The final step, publishing your draft after finalizing it completely. You can publish your draft anywhere you want. You can give to a newspaper to publish, you can post it on the internet or you can make different copies of your draft and allot them within your friends and colleagues.
Remember writing for the first time may be difficult because there are many things that you will be doing for the first time. You may want to quit at certain point as well but believe me writing is something that is easy and more worthy. You can fail multiple times but don’t ever give up because you choose it as your passion. Remember the first point of this article. Once you gain command over those above points you can be considered as a writer but with further practice you may be considered as a good writer and you will eventually be writing books. That’s what I hope from my readers.
That’s all. Thank you very much for reading my blog.
